Therapy

Our Therapeutic Services

Safe Harbor offers free, confidential therapy for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors ages seven and above.

Experiencing domestic violence or sexual assault can have significant mental health impacts for survivors including anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress.

Therapy with a licensed therapist who understands the impacts of these experiences can help survivors to heal from their past trauma.

Whether the abuse was recent or occurred decades ago, we’re here to help.

Our Therapeutic Approach

Our therapists use a trauma-informed approach. Being trauma-informed means recognizing that trauma can change the way our minds and bodies react to the world around us. Trauma-informed therapy can help survivors recover from their past experiences by identifying new coping mechanisms and fostering resiliency for the future.

Our trauma-informed therapists prioritize 6 key principles to help survivors find healing and growth:

  • Safety
  • Trustworthiness and transparency
  • Peer support
  • Collaboration and mutuality
  • Empowerment, voice, and choice
  • Cultural, historical, and gender issues

Working with our trained therapists can help survivors come to terms with their past and rebuild for the future.

Individual Therapy

We have a team of professional therapists who can provide individual therapy with a trauma-informed practice.
